WCT Joint Venture Secures RM926.2 Million Residential Construction Contract in Abu Dhabi
PETALING JAYA (July 7, 2026): WCT Holdings Bhd has strengthened its presence in the Middle East after securing a major residential construction contract in Abu Dhabi worth 836 million dirham (approximately RM926.2 million) through its joint venture in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
According to a Bursa Malaysia filing, WCT's wholly-owned subsidiary, WCT International Sdn Bhd (WCTISB), together with UAE-based Construction General Contracting House Ltd (CGCH), has accepted a letter of award for the Yas Riva Residences Works Package on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.
Major residential development on Yas Island
The project is being developed by Aldar Development LLC – O.P.C., one of Abu Dhabi's leading property developers. Under the contract, the 50:50 unincorporated joint venture between WCTISB and CGCH will undertake the construction and completion of six residential buildings.
Each residential tower will consist of 11 storeys, with all six buildings sharing a common basement. The development will be located on Plots C54 and C55 within Yas Island, one of Abu Dhabi's flagship mixed-use and lifestyle destinations.
Incorporated joint venture to execute project
Following the contract award, both partners will establish an incorporated 50:50 joint venture company, either directly or through their respective wholly-owned subsidiaries, to execute and manage the construction works.
This structure will provide a dedicated project vehicle to oversee delivery of the development.
Construction timeline
Construction is expected to commence in the third quarter (3Q) of 2026.
The contract carries a construction period of 1,218 days from the commencement date, indicating a project duration of approximately three years and four months before completion.
Corporate governance
WCT confirmed that none of its directors, major shareholders or persons connected to them has any direct or indirect interest in the sub-contract, ensuring that the transaction is conducted on an arm's length basis.
